Compendium of African Initiatives to Support Parents & Caregivers

ICDI researched and developed a Compendium of African Initiatives to Support Parents & Caregivers on behalf of the African Early Childhood Network (AfECN), WHO, UNICEF and Global Initiative to Support Parents (GISP). The Compendium is based on evidenced-based parenting programs presented at the June 2022 All African Convening to Support Parents and Caregivers. It includes a thematic analysis of the key findings of all the parenting programs; learnings and recommendations for policy and practice; summary ‘At a Glance Table’ and 1-page summaries of 28 initiatives; an infographic with the key takeaways for each of the themes and a map pinpointing where programs are being implemented. Themes addressed include programs for parents of young children, gender transformative parenting education and considerations when designing and implementing programs that support parents and caregivers. The Compendium was published in September 2024.
