The corona pandemic is hitting us hard. In almost all countries the effects are being felt, with the virus spreading its deadly wings ever more quickly it seems.
At ICDI in the Netherlands the team has been working from home since more than a week. We are following our government and health authorities´ measures, which require us to have as little physical social contact as possible. This of course limits what we can do, most notably not being able to travel to any of our projects anymore.
For the partner organizations we work with in different countries around the world, the same more or less applies. Because our activities are community based, most of the regular interventions have now been suspended. Safety of our beneficiaries and staff is our highest priority. At the same time, if and when possible, our partners support efforts to fight the spread of the virus. These include things like providing hygienic kits (masks, sanitizers and soap), distributing awareness raising information on what people can do them selves in terms of prevention and care, and offering logistic support to relief efforts (by, for example, making vehicles available).
