On August 4th and 5th, the kick-off meeting for the CL.A.P. (Children’s Rights, Awareness, and Participation addressing emerging needs in the COVID-19 pandemic) project took place. On the second day, ICDI facilitated a session on Meaningful Youth Participation.
The session covered several key topics, including the theoretical foundations of Meaningful Youth Participation, spheres and levels of participation, practical implementation in projects, good practices from around the world, and a brief introduction to child/youth led research.
The CL.A.P. project aims to enhance the fulfillment of and awareness about children’s rights within European society. It aligns with the EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child and seeks to strengthen children’s participation mechanisms in identifying emerging needs and addressing the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project connects four EU countries: Italy, Romania, Spain, and the Netherlands.
Throughout the project, various methodologies will be employed, including child/youth led research (introduced by ICDI), educational theater, and other creative, child-friendly approaches. In the coming months, ICDI will conduct a Training of Trainers on child/youth led research and develop a toolkit to support the methodology.

Stay tuned for updates as we work together to amplify children’s voices and address their emerging needs across Europe.
