LISTEN! What children have to tell us about bullying and safety at school

School bullying is a painful experience and inevitably affects the complete development of young people. As professionals and parents ourselves, we care about the future of children and believe that violence at school can be eliminated in order for our children to grow emotionally healthy and confident.

This booklet is the result of an international programme to involve children in preventing bullying and in creating a safe environment at school in a participatory and empowering way. The project addresses bullying at many levels: individual, school and local community. It targets children together with their teachers, as well as child-care workers and policy makers. This project brought seven European countries together: Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Germany, the UK and the Netherlands. Sixteen schools have been visited and over 500 children took part. This programme was led by the Bulgarian Animus Association
