A brand-new children’s book inspired by the TOY for Inclusion Play Hubs has been developed and published! Mia Goes on an Adventure with Mom draws from the real-life experiences of families participating in the Play Hubs in Europe.
The book was written by ICDI intern Paz Heusser Ferrés and illustrated by Emily Oxenaar, who was also an ICDI intern. The details in this story are based on the author’s research conducted at Utrecht University in 2024. The research focused on why families with children under 3 years old attend non-formal early childhood education spaces like Play Hubs. The study took place in Slovakia, one of the countries where the TOY for Inclusion programme is active under the coordination of Škola dokorán – Wide Open School.
