Ten new children-led projects to celebrate ICDI’s 30th anniversary!

This year, ICDI is celebrating an important milestone – its 30th anniversary!

To celebrate this special occasion, ICDI is supporting ten mini-projects about climate action, developed and implemented by children and young people.

For ICDI, it is essential to ensure that children and young people, particularly girls, have a voice in decisions regarding climate change. Supporting climate education and preparing communities and governments to adapt to the climate crisis are central to ICDI’s mission.

The winning projects were selected based on a 1-minute pitch video participants made about their initiative – along with meeting other requirement, such as being between 7 and 18 years old. While developing their project ideas, participants were also encouraged to familiarise themselves with information on climate change and children’s rights, as well as the 7 golden rules of participation. Each project was awarded a 500 euro grant, and although each one has a different timeframe, all will be implemented throughout the remainder of the year.

Three of the projects are in Europe, three in Central America, two in Africa, and two in Asia. You can read more about each of the winning projects here.
