TOY for Inclusion: Care for children of disadvantaged communities

Our project TOY for Inclusion is the gateway to education and care for many children of disadvantaged communities. The project has so far created eight Play Hubs for young children in the EU which have obtained extraordinary results:

1. Improved the transition experience of Romani children to schools.
2. Improved children’s preparedness for formal education.
3. Increased trust of Roma communities in the local services.

TOY for Inclusion was chosen among 60 applications, globally representing 29 countries, as best Learning Environment 2018 by the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP).

The project strengthens integration and social cohesion by bringing children and families from different backgrounds together.

A particular focus is put on Roma communities: by creating Play Hubs at local level, TOY for Inclusion provides opportunities for children, adults and communities to integrate and develop.

We made a short video on the Play Hubs that our partners set up in seven EU countries. The video captures some of the stories and experiences of children, parents and practitioners involved in the project.
