Training of Trainers: Equipping partners with youth-led research methodology

On September 29th and 30th, ICDI conducted two Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions for our partners in the CL.A.P. project. The training aimed to help participants understand the youth-led research methodology as a practical way to implement Meaningful Youth Participation while familiarising them with the toolkit developed by ICDI to support this approach.

During the first day, we explored fundamental concepts of youth-led research. The discussions included:

  • What is (youth-led) research?
  • The logistics of youth-led research
  • Defining the research topic and questions
  • Ethics in youth-led research

Day two focused on the practical aspects of conducting youth-led research. Topics included:

  • Research tools, data collection, and analysis
  • Sharing research findings

Additionally, we introduced the Monitoring & Evaluation tools that will be applied during crucial stages of the project, including the youth-led research process.

To conclude the training, we highlighted real-life examples of youth-led research conducted by our partners in the Netherlands, Nepal, and Pakistan. These case studies demonstrated the methodology in action and its potential to amplify youth voices.

The ToT sessions marked an important step in equipping partners to implement youth-led research and enhance participation within the CL.A.P. project. Together, we are committed to empowering young people as researchers and advocates for their rights.
