Visit from Albanian children protection professionals

Last week at ICDI we had the pleasure of receiving a delegation made of professionals from Albania (law professors, social workers, and representatives from national and local authorities) who are involved in the child protection system in their country.

They came on a working visit organized by Save the Children Albania and Dutch alternative care expert Bep van Sloten, aimed at learning more about how foster care is organized in The Netherlands.

At ICDI the delegation visited the old orphanage in which our office is based, to see how children used to live there. And they learned more about ICDI’s projects Nest and TOY.

For the past year, ICDI has been supporting child protection efforts in Albania by developing a Best Interest of the Child checklist.

It was great to have these knowledgeable and enthusiastic professionals here with us.
