On May 24, part of the ICDI team visited the Play Hub in Enschede (Netherlands). The goal of this visit was to view the new location of the Enschede Play Hub and to facilitate a short training about the Power of Play and its impact on early childhood learning and development.
After a short visit to the Play Hub and a general discussion about daily practices specific to this location, the training took place. A short group of participants was present, including Iara de Witte (country-level coordinator of TOY4Inclusion in The Netherlands), Esther Postma (LAT coordinator), TOY4Inclusion volunteers, and social workers. Training topics included the importance of play, the play environment, the types of play, and the role of the adult in enabling and supporting play.
Participants had plenty of moments, during the training, to experience the importance of playing themselves. At the end of the training, the challenges experienced by the staff and volunteers were discussed, in a fruitful and inspiring discussion.
