Rekha Wazir

Senior Associate

Rekha Wazir is a sociologist by profession. She is co-founder of ICDI and has been active in the field of children and development since 1983, starting with her doctoral dissertation for Cambridge University (UK) on education and development in rural Kashmir, India.

She has worked for a range of UN agencies and international development organisations in the areas of education and development, children and youth at risk, gender and development, social policy and NGO management.

Her research interests span issues like education, gender, child labour, child abuse and childcare. Rekha’s special expertise lies in combining aspects of research, policy and practice in these fields.
