World Breastfeeding Week 2020

This week we celebrate ‘World Breastfeeding Week’! This is an annual event promoting the importance of breastfeeding for children around the globe.

This year’s theme is “Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet”, highlighting that breastfeeding provides every child with the best start in life and is part of a sustainable food system. Although breastfeeding usually happens naturally and smoothly, it is not always easy. Mothers may need support – both to get started and to sustain breastfeeding. If it is not possible, there should be alternatives available like baby formula.

ICDI is promoting breastfeeding through the ‘Making the first 1000 days count!’ project, where we aim to promote the healthy social and emotional development of babies, toddlers and children in general in Ethiopia.
